Birth, for the Javanese, is a religious event. It is almost as important as the crucifixion is for Christians. Birth reflects something new. In this newly emerged life is new hope and a repurification of life values, which have declined. Traditionally, those of Javanese culture believe a baby symbolizes good fortune. "The Birth" was produced for the Christmas event in 1990.
